DOTA Zeus guide

About the Lord of Olympia

He's a powerful intelligence hero fighting for the Sentinel in Defense of the Ancients. The DOTA Zeus can fire off a barrage of nukes targetting heroes, and even striking everyone on the map. This spell also gives you temporary vision of everyone and can be quite useful even if the Wrath of the Thundergod isn't done for the damage. Any heroes around Zeus whenever he casts a lightning spell are also shocked for a significant amount of their health.

Earlygame

You might want to grab an item that allows you to restore or have more mana, like a Bottle. You'll want to be chain casting early on to help deny and harrass enemy heroes. I'm not going to go in depth about the skills here, you can find those listed on another DOTA Zeus guide.

Your basic strategy at this point of the game will depend who you're laned against. The Lord of Olympia is perfectly fine to solo with, but be careful if you're playing with someone who is an anti-caster. Always take arc as your first skill, but you might not want to level it up. The mana cost per extra damage isn't worth it until later as the Zeus skill grows. Arc Lightning can be used to last hit/deny at the same time. It's a lot easier to use (especially versus ranged heroes) than running in with Zeus' piddly attack range.

Try to reach level 6 as quickly as possible, or you can go out and try to roam/kill heroes. Both work well. Save enough mana to launch a thundergod's wrath once you get your ultimate. You'll probably come across an easy time to get a kill shortly after, and you don't want to be smacking yourself for having wasted all your mana arcing someone who's running off. Static field and lightning bolt are both good choices for which your next skills should be. I usually concentrate on static first, and end up in team battles during my DOTA matches. However, one on one, lightning bolt will give you a better bang for the buck.

Midgame

Nothing all that special with Zeus. You can either save up the wrath and use it during team battles. It's an easy way to get an assist by starting off another one your allies are in far across the map, but try not to kill steal with it unless you want your DOTA team leaving.

Try to find a partner, ideally one who can disable or stun, and wander around the map ganking heroes. Zeus works very well for a barrage of damage, especially once he has all his skills. Be careful though - you can't survive very well.

Late game

This stage is all about what you, and your allies/enemies have for items. There's a lot of different ways you can build the lord of olympia. You can check out a Zeus item guide for some quick tips on equipment.

Are you playing against heroes who are mostly tanks? You might want to concentrate on disabling items yourself. Low hp intelligence or agility heroes? They're just asking to get shocked! Stay together as a team and try to scare your enemies so much that they're afraid to leave their base. The DOTA match will quickly be yours if you manage to do that and keep them from farming/killing.

Try not to roam around solo at these levels. Zeus might be powerful, but he might as well be a roast chicken leg against a couple strong heroes. That concludes this DOTA Zeus guide. Hope you've learned something, have fun!
